A Systems Engineer with detailed knowledge of and specialization in Servers, Virtualization and Storage technologies. This position will be responsible for tier 2-3 support across the infrastructure, as well as maintain backup and storage applications across a multi-site environment.
Required:
4-year College degree in an IT or equivalent work experience.
Minimum 8 years work experience in server, storage, backup and virtualization platforms
Minimum 2 years of working knowledge on LAN/WAN technologies, including Dell hardware, SonicWALL firewalls (not mandatory), layer-3 switches and ISP vendor relations.
Minimum 10 years in an IT capacity role including help-desk technician, technical support, system/network administration, etc., with career progression.
Professional Requirements:
Proven experience with physical and virtual servers and platforms. Windows Hyper-V, server 2008 and 2012 are a must.
Medium-high level knowledge is required for Linux, UNIX.
Extensive root cause analysis and troubleshooting experience. Excellent OSI model knowledge
Strong knowledge with hands-on experience in the following:
P2V and V2V
Dell NetVault and EqualLogic storage and backup systems – not mandatory
iSCSI and Fiber Channel connectivity
OOB management (iDRAC, iLO) – not mandatory
Solarwinds monitoring platform or similar – not mandatory
Deploying/maintaining VMs in a high-availability platform; must have Hyper-V exp
Active Directory, GPO, LDAP integration
