*Job description:*
1) Responsible for the hands-on implementation and management of the Enterprise Monitoring portfolio of tools and assistance with design and strategy of the monitoring practice.
2) Implement, support, and advance the portfolio of enterprise monitoring tools like Nagios XI, SCOM etc.
3) Ensure all relevant infrastructure and services are properly covered within our monitoring and alerting systems in a manner consistent with our standards; collect the right metrics at the right frequency and ensure the data is readily available for effective alerting, reporting, and analysis.
4) Collaborate with a cross-functional team of dev, ops, and architects to understand complex application architectures in order to implement an effective top-down monitoring strategy for holistic service visibility.
5) Assist in redesign and implementation of a progressive monitoring stratgy that meets the evolving requirements in IT as we shift towards more modernized architectures, processes, and technologies.
6) Participate in the evaluation, selection, design, deployment, and advancement of the portfolio of tools used to provide infrastructure and service monitoring.
7) Collaborate with NOC and Performance teams to support a cohesive and consistent visibility strategy and incident response process across the enterprise.
8) Troubleshoot and resolve complex issues with monitoring tools and ensure high availability.
9) Contribute innovative solutions which incorporate and enhance automation with monitoring, alerting, and incident management. Build and design playbooks to improve efficiency where possible.
*Qualifications:*
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, or related discipline, or equivalent work experience.
• 8+ years of information technology experience, with a desired 4+ years in a relevant critical infrastructure monitoring role or similar position.
• In-depth experience installing, configuring, maintaining monitoring tools such as Nagios, SCOM, SolarWinds, Zabbix, Splunk etc.
• Experience monitoring critical systems and network infrastructure in a large enterprise environment.
• Knowledge of Windows and Linux operating system management and administration.
• Familiarity with LAN/WAN technologies and clear understanding of basic network concepts / services.
• Familiarity with multitier application architectures and application runtime environments.
• Familiarity with workflow management and ITSM tools such as ServiceNow.
• Understanding of alerting and aggregation tools.
• Hands-on experience monitoring infrastructure on cloud platforms such as AWS and Azure is desired.
• Knowledge of emerging technologies and modern architectural concepts such cloud, containers, micro-services, immutable infrastructure, infrastructure as code, etc.
• Ability to work independently with a high degree of initiative and determination.
• Strong understanding of multitier application architectures and application runtime environments.
• Excellent verbal & written communication.
