Sr. Systems Engineer/Splunk Architect

We are looking for a passionate, highly skilled, and motivated individual to join our Site Reliability Tools (SRT) team building next generation monitoring and site analytics capability in AWS. As a senior member of our team you will be responsible for architecting, building and managing a very large scale Splunk environment for both Enterprise Security and PSN Operations.

You will participate in system design and provide thought leadership in the full life-cycle; from concept, data ingestion, data governance application decomposition and the creation of dashboards. As a subject matter expert for this log data analytics and visualization platform, you will ensure we are following best practices and mentor team mates as the team develops and implements solutions.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate the ability to handle multiple on-going assignments while also working independently on other tasks with a focus on managing continuous improvement of service engineering, delivery, and operational practices.  You will participate in the design, logic and flow-charting, data ingestion, data governance, visualization development, testing, debugging, documentation and support of our Splunk infrastructure. Provide analysis of problems and recommends solutions, serve in the role of technical subject matter expert, and assist in the continuous improvement.

Responsibilities:

Implement and maintain Splunk Enterprise solutions for both on prem and cloud.
Consult with various teams to build efficient and effective dashboards.
Communicate with technical and non-technical audiences including senior management to provide regular updates on operational status.
Create technical documentation of Splunk architecture and configuration.
Build and provide training material for Splunk user community.
Conduct workshops in support of Splunk community to improve value of the tool and apps.
Work directly with InfoSec to implement requirements for Splunk ES solution.

Work directly with SRE teams on architecting log aggregation solutions that will integrate with Splunk.

Build and maintain a metric pipeline for monitoring and integration with Splunk.

Conduct frequent capacity reviews of Splunk environments.
Prepare presentations on Splunk architecture, capability, capacity, and rca’s.
Mentor fellow SRT members on Splunk operations, delivery and management.

Qualifications:

BS/BA in a related discipline Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or a Math or Science discipline.
In addition to 7+ years of experience in any related Information Technology field and Linux Administration, additional related industry experience in lieu of degree, will be considered.
Certified Splunk Architect
Certified Splunk Admin
Highly proficient with Splunk query language
5+ years of Splunk Experience
Excellent troubleshooting skills.
Excellent communication skill, both verbal and written.
Require good organizational skills, be results-driven and self-motivated.
Excellent Shell and Python scripting skills
Experience in building an operating in AWS and related tooling (Jenkins, Consul, Troposphere, Cloud Watch, Kenisis, etc.)
Experience in operations automation
Experience with various Operating Systems such as Windows, RedHat, CentOS, Amazon Linux
Experience with rsyslog, syslog-ng, Nagios, Sensu is a plus.
