Role: Release Engineer
Location: Woonsocket, RI
Duration: 6+ months

Job Description:

Overall responsibilities include the following:

Migrating the code from PVCS to GitHub/Git repositories.
Setup/Manage/Administer Git repositories.
Configuring the build the scripts to automate the build and deployment process from Git repository
Single point of contact for all code migration needs from existing PVCS to Git repositories.
Integration and automated deployment projects for Java Enterprise applications.
Drive and implement software configuration management and delivery initiatives.
Ensure the integrity of builds and artefacts to support successful Production releases.
Develop tools/scripts to support and improve current build and release process.
Work with the development teams to drive and define branch management.
Create, maintain and support build and test environments (with support from IT).
Documenting new source control code management, build and deployment process and procedures.
Work with team members to implement best practices for release tools and processes.
Work closely with Dev, QA and Prod Support teams and Implement tools to improve the Developer/QA/Prod Support productivity.
Identifying the gaps and automating the process to reduce the release cycle time and improve the quality of the deliverables.
Working with development team to formulate check-in/release processes and provide training when needed.

Requirements:

Strong understanding of SDLC and release management process.
8+ years’ experience with release management, version control systems and branch management (Git, PVCS Serena).
4-5 years’ experience working in supporting build processes on Windows, Unix/Linux.
Should have very good experience with Source Code Migration from PVCS to Git or SVN.
Knowledgeable in Java or any other programming languages like .NET or Python or Scala
Strong working experience with Windows and Linux environment.
Minimum of 2 years of experience in Shell/Perl and PowerShell scripting skills.
Experience implementing enterprise repository for common dependencies using Maven/Nuget.
Knowledge of ANT Migration Tool and at least 2 years of experience on the use of the tool.
Advanced knowledge in GIT Source Control Branching model. Minimum of 2 years of experience preferred.
Proficiency and experience in working with application servers like Tomcat
Experience with Agile/Scrum process using JIRA/Confluence.
A team player capable of high performance and flexibility in a dynamic working environment
Must have good analytical, conceptual and root cause analysis skills.
Effective oral and written communication skills.
