Position : Cloud Architect / Sr. VMWare Engineer

 
Location : NYC OR NJ office (Piscataway)
 
Longevity : 6-12 Months Contract (Possibly Extension)

Job Description :   

Our client, a major foreign investment bank, is looking for a Consultant for their NYC OR NJ office (Piscataway). This is an excellent opportunity to for a Sr. Cloud Architect/VMWare Engineer with a background in to join their team in order to design and develop VMWare and cloud platforms. The group is part of a global organization that drives the firm’s strategy for all technologies. Must have good communications skills. They have interviewed but have not found someone strong enough with very deep technology who is able to articulate it. Rate is DOE.

•Focus is Cloud Architecture with strong VMWare / Virtualization

•Experience deploying public or private cloud

•Should have some virtualization/have implemented - and VMWare would really be good.

•Automation experience in this case the automation process for Cisco UCS.

•Must have scripting

•Must be able to drive a project

•Must be able to articulate who they would design a document (lacking in other candidates).

•Virutualization - Should have Certification but open for great candidate who doesn’t have it

•Cloud - can be AWS, Google, Azure

•True Architect / Engineer

 .The candidate engineer / design solutions specializing in utilizing enhancing VMWare and Cloud (on prem/off prem) and automation / orchestration methods and tools.

•A hands-on role, requiring an open minded attitude to venture outside of your comfort zone when necessary.

•Will work closely with local and global technical leads, business analysts, system analysts, infrastructure and other cross-department teams to evaluate business needs and provide end-to-end technical solutions to drive the 5 year strategy for the firm.


THE DAY TO DAY RESPONSIBILITIES: 

•Architecture, design and development of cutting edge VMware platform. The Cloud platform will entail working with a full automation framework which will serve both as on prem cloud and external cloud in the future.

•Design, analysis, development and implementation of infrastructure solutions for both US and global based projects

•Perform operational handover and escalation support


THE SKILLS YOU NEED TO GET THE JOB: 

•Planning, designing, managing virtualization platforms in a cloud atmosphere (VMWare, Hyper-V, KVM)

•Architecting / engineering and implementing Cloud Technologies (AWS, AZURE, other)

•Cisco UCS experience is desirable.

•5+ years supporting large geographically diverse system implementations.

•5+ years Automation and Scripting skills

•Knowledge of network topologies

•Blade and white box servers: HP and UCS desired

•Have provided 24x7 technical on-call support or follow the sun support


DESIRABLE SKILLS: 

•Storage SAN/NAS experience EMC or HDS

•ITIL certification


OTHER SKILLS: 

•Strong oral and written communication skills with the ability to communicate technical and non-technical concepts to peers, customers, and management.

•Must be capable of routinely making effective and timely decisions in alignment with departmental direction, and based on sound business knowledge and industry best practices.

•Ability to work well as part of a local team as well as a global team.

•Initiative, drive and ability to work effectively with limited direction.
